How Long to Wait to Bleach My Hair Again

  • So i simply bleached my hair with Quick Blue and a 40 book Developer. I am actually surprised with the lack of damage done to my pilus (notwithstanding damaged a flake, but not equally much every bit i feared). So it's a little dry, programme on non shampooing it for a couple of days and completely staying away from rut styling for a while.

Most of the hair bleached was virgin except for some of the ends (which i had generally cut off two weeks ago.) The ends were dyed semi-perm crimson on virgin hair and then later dyed permanent black. (This was months ago, usually wash my hair almost everyday unless it's freshly bleached.)

That being said parts of my hair are a rusty-ish red-orange color. I would like to remove it as presently as possible before i first toning. And so, how long would be an appropriate amount of fourth dimension to wait before i bleach the ends? Besides, should i bleach it with a 40 again or use a xxx?

    • Looks more oragnish red than it does in this lighting

  • It's all-time to wait at least a calendar month, it can take that long for the harm to prove. 40 vol tends to damage a lot more than lower volumes. Y'all can tone down the orange in the concurrently by making a toner with blue dye and conditioner.

I wouldn't use either forty or xxx on already bleached hair. A bleach bath (30 diluted to 15) would be a gentler choice. Bleach baths won't requite every bit much lift but going slower damages less. Apply it just to the orange spots and try to avoid any areas that are quite light. Also do a strand examination before doing your whole head to make certain your hair can handle it.

Thanks for the reply, I did tone it even though i wanted to wait to tone my pilus. It helped the rusty orange colors a bit more than i thought it would. I toned it with Manic Panic's Ultra Violet since i didn't accept any blue dyes laying around.

Likewise taking slight caput of your advice when i bleach information technology once again i programme on using a twenty volume developer the side by side time instead of a 30. Willing to live with the consequences of re-bleaching.

I just hope i can get most of it out with a 20.

  • Always go for a lower vol peroxide on hair that is already bleached. This blazon of unevenness is why I advised you to avoid 40 vol for the initial bleaching, lower vol peroxides with bleach give you longer to apply the product evenly so you avert the orange patches.

I did so what I knew then, & when I knew better, I did better.

That orange though was due to my ends existence blackness. I suppose i could take left the bleach in longer but i didn't want to damage information technology too much. From everything that you've stated i'll probably go for the thirty commencement next fourth dimension. Alive and learn i approximate.

  • If there was sometime dye on the hair, you may still be able to go it out with a colour remover. A bit of orangish is much easier to deal with than fried hair though :)

  • Look FOREVER

Kidding, but you should expect at to the lowest degree a month. If the color is bothering yous just tone with some diluted blue velvet to rid yourself of the orange staining. A colour remover on the stained ends may also help, only it'll exist drying so brand sure to oil your hair up or deep condition afterwards. I suggest twenty vol bleach, every bit information technology isn't every bit harsh equally 40 vol (can crusade pain and crusty scalp, ick) brand certain to protect your hair earlier bleaching, yada yada yada, coconut/argan oil overnight before bleaching the next day, bleach over the oils, all good.

  • Get some 20vol to practise it. Are yous toning or coloring it after your desired raw shade of golden/stake yellowish is reached? If so this will fill in the raw feeling like damaged hair & make it smoother again. Raw bleached hair ever feels like crap until you fill it in once again to shine out the cuticle. It looks pretty salubrious considering....plus you lot cut the worst of the ends off. Seems safe and so long as you watch it closely when re-bleaching..Scraping the bleach off with your fingernail when the bleach is processing, pulling on the ends a little to bank check theres no breakage is the best way to gauge a decent bleaching. If the ends get-go stretching & or breaking go it off with tepid h20 + shampoo 2x condition well. Build up your natural oils for @ least 3 days b4 bleaching to protect your scalp that may be sensitive from the prior bleaching.

  • Wow thank you for the great feedback guys!!

@beeto if i get out coconut oil in all night and bleach the next morning i don't need to wash the oil out first? Just want to make sure the bleaching process volition not be negatively affected by the coconut oil.

@ vividamnesia I oasis't decided if i want to stick to toning with dye diluted with conditioner or just get to emerge's and grab some T18 when i become my hair a pale blonde. Likewise my hair does not stretch or break when pulling on information technology :)

  • Nope, coconut oil will protect your hair and scalp when you lot bleach, without rendering the bleach ineffective. Just leave it in overnight and bleach right over pinnacle of it.

  • My friend is a hairdresser and she said if you're going to bleach your pilus never block it in conditioner = it stops the bleach reaching the actual hair it needs to bleach?

I've done this the final three times I bleached my hair. Works a treat!

I've also merely used Color B4 Way Colours on my hair (after reading this commodity http://www.haircrazy.com/articles/blog/5-color-removal-techniques-put-to-the-test/) and information technology got rid of all the ruby-red and yellow tones. It's for auction somewhere on this site and then you could give that a endeavour perchance? If yous're not Great britain based the article mentions suitable alternatives.

Bleach bathroom is probably your next all-time pick. As the others say, less dissentious than a proper bleach but probably effective enough for the small adjustment y'all're looking to make . http://www.haircrazy.com/manufactures/beginner-guides/bleach-bathing/

If but it were true, but bleach will swallow directly through conditioner, it doesn't even tiresome it down.

I did and so what I knew then, & when I knew amend, I did amend.
